Yesterday Katie Payne and I drove down to Salt Lake to the Scrapbook Expo. I found as I walked through the exhibits that I'm kinda done with scrapbooking in the traditional sense. It's quite expensive and time consuming for books that sit on a shelf. Blogging is a lot more my thing now. I was pretty impressed, however, with the digital scrapbooking ideas. I think I will look more into learning about that.
After we walked through the Expo we went and had lunch at Applebee's then came home. It was a pretty fast trip but we had fun.

Go Go Go Joseph!

On Friday night we went to Rich High to see the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
The theater was pretty small but the high school cast and especially the director did a great job. Joseph is one of my favorite musicals and though I can sing every word with the soundtrack, I realized as I was watching that it was the first time that I'd actually seen the musical.

And, yesterday morning Matt and I took the kids to Logan to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief . It was a really good show. I was so excited that all three kids are old enough to sit through a movie. After the movie we bought groceries and then went to Fredrico's Pizza for dinner on the way home.
It really wasn't anything spectacular but we had a really fun day together.

Since I love all things Irish, St. Patrick's Day is one of my funnest little holidays.

Things we did this year to celebrate:

*We all wore green. I wore my lucky green polka dot socks and let Jaycee wear my Lucky shirt from Bunco. Brit and Cody opted for the tye-died look.

*We ate green eggs and ham (bacon) for dinner. (And also pancakes.) The kids were good sports about it and ate everything.

* We went to bed early. (It's still a school night. :)

Things we didn't do to celebrate St. Patrick's Day:
* Go to Ireland (Someday)
* See a parade
* Drink Beer
* Sing lively tunes and dance with Leprechaun's. (Darn!)

Twin Tuesday

This week is spirit week at school. The kids get to wear things out of the ordinary as part of this. Today was Twin Tuesday. Britnee was on the phone last night with her friend, Sklyee, deciding on what to wear and how to do their hair.
Cody was quiet and didn't say much so I figured that as a boy, he wouldn't care much about Twin Tuesday.
As I was waking him up this morning, I asked him who he was going to be "twinners"with so I could get the right clothes. He said, "My body pillow." Um, surly I didn't hear him right, he must want to sleep a little longer. So I turned on the light and let him wake up a little more. Then I asked again. He answered me in a tone of, "I already told you, my body pillow." Then he rolled out of bed, put on his red shirt, red sweat pants, (which he never wears to school) and grabbed his body pillow.
He came home today with a big grin on his face and said that he'd had a wonderful day at school.
I'm not sure where he came up with the plan but it was set in his mind and he carried it out.
I loved it!! I hope that he has that kind of confidence in high school. :)

Memory Monday- A Long Line of Love

(Yeah, this is my valentine post. Right on track huh.)

I'm so blessed to be from a long line of people who love each other and who love their family. Our grandparents have been that great example to me.
My dad's parents, Joe and Iris Bassett, were married on January 6, 1949 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family party in Lovell, Wyoming in 1999.
My mom's parents, Jr. and Ada Pugmire, were married on September 27, 1939 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1989. They had a family open house at the Saint Charles church building.
Matt's dad's parents, Lee and Hazel McMullin were married on August 23, 1946. They celebrated their 5oth anniversary with a family party at the Cleveland church in 1996, just three weeks after Matt and I were married.
Matt's mom's parents, Clyde and Grace Behling, were married on February 8, 1948. We celebrated their 50th with them at a family dinner held in Mount Pleasant in 1998.

Although not all of our grandparents are still living, I'm so grateful to have been able to know and learn from them. I'm also grateful for the long line of love that came through these wonderful people.

Feeling Lucky??

Candice, Ashley, and I were in charge of hosting Bunco this month. Since it's March our theme was "Feeling Lucky." We ate yummy sweet pork salads- complete with rice, beans, home cooked tortillas, and lemonade.
Our treat bowls were filled with green m&m's, skittles, and Lucky Charms. Each gift was wrapped with green ribbon and a tag saying "Lucky you." (And duh, I was running around so fast that I didn't stop to snap any pictures.)
We had a storm roll in that made the roads really slick but luckily everyone made it safe and even though the prep work stresses me out way more than it needs to, it turned out to be a really fun night.

My big fat man couch

When we bought our home 6 years ago, we kept the couch that was in the house when had been used as a model home. It was a pretty couch but after time I realized it was probably more suited to an office than for our family room. Why? Because it wasn't comfy, big, or had that "come curl up and relax on me" feel.
So with some of our tax refund this year I decided that I needed a big fat man couch for our family room, one that was big enough for all of us to enjoy. I did some serious shopping on the internet and found this couch. It looked like just the one for me, according to the 2" by 3" picture on my computer screen. And I found that could order it from a company in Virginia and pay a little less than if we drove to Salt Lake and got the same one. Go figure!
Anyway, last Monday a truck pulled up to our house, the delivery man helped me carry it in and set it up and Voila!! We have ourselves a big, comfy couch. Better even than the picture and perfect for spending quality TV together. :)
