Jacob's Baptism

This last weekend Matt and I took the kids to Powell, Wyoming to my brother Bret and his wife Heidi's house for Jacob's baptism. While there, we got to go to the Thermopolis Hot Springs and watch Kadee play basketball.

We got to attend church in Bret and Heidi's ward. After sacrament meeting one of Bret's friends came up to introduce himself and asked if Matt was Bret's brother or I was his siter. I wish I would've taken a picture of Bret and Matt together because they do really look quite a bit a like.

After the baptism there was so many family members that we all went to the fire hall (Bret's a firefighter) and visited. We all had so much fun seeing my dad's side of the family. The kids especially loved the fooseball table.

It was a pretty quick visit, wish it could've been longer but we had a fun time.

Memory Monday-The Piano

A few years ago Matt's mom gave us $500. I don't recall exactly what for but we could use the gift however we wanted. I knew what I wanted, a piano for the kids. We had just moved into our new house and I had the perfect place for one. About 4 days after we moved in a friend mentioned that their neighbor had a piano for sale. We called to check on it and the price was $500. I said "Sold!" and ran to get Matt to come and haul it home for me. As we were driving over to pick it up, I had a thought, "what if this piano is ugly? It will be the first thing anyone sees when they walk into our home." Once I saw this baby though, I couldn't believe it. It was the exact piano I had wanted but knew $500 would never get it. Matt and my dad somehow got it into the house and made me promise that I would never move it. And I haven't. ( I even painted around it a couple of years ago :)

I love our piano. Jaycee is in piano lessons and the sound of primary songs being played over and over makes me smile.

Little Updates

Update #1- My 24 hour challenge is still going. Not that I've counted up the exact hours but I don't think I want to just get there and then quit. I have learned several things lately about me. Not all of them I like. But I've been so grateful for this time to consciously try to be more positive about the world around me.
Update #2- I'm feeling a little better each day since my little surgery. I didn't plan on feeling so tired but it's been good to get a much needed slow down for awhile. I didn't end up with black eyes which I'm very thankful for. The funny thing that I didn't count on however was the fact that I've lost my sense of smell and taste. Empty calories are taking on a whole new meaning for me as I'm trying to talk myself into eating anything.
Anyway, just sharing random thoughts...

Our little man is 6!

Yesterday Cody turned 6. He was out of bed by 5:30 am and didn't stop all day. I need to work on getting as excited about things as Cody does. We have been counting down this day more than we did for Christmas. Matt and I got him a Wii game and this little saucer chair. Grandpa Rusty and Grandma Sony got him a baseball mitt and ball. And the highlight present (who knew) was the cardboard visor that he got to wear at school. I sure love this little baby of mine that is growing up all too quickly. Happy Birthday my little man!

Back among the living-I think

On Friday I went to the hospital for sinus surgery. It wasn't anything major but I've spent most of the last few days sleeping. Can I just tell you that it has been wonderful? I know that kinda sounds bad but I haven't had to cook dinner or do chores and I can sleep whenever I feel like it. My parents and Matt have been so good to let me be completely lazy. In fact, the kids got up and got ready for school all by themselves so I could sleep in yesterday. I have loved it.
But all good things must come to an end, Matt went back to work yesterday and I don't think I will be able to get away with this laziness much longer. (Besides, the pain pills are running low.)
In all seriousness though, the surgery went well and I've enjoyed the break but I need to get back to life eventually. And I don't think I could just walk around in a fog all the time. But maybe just for one more day..

Merry Christmas to me!!

I have wanted a picture like this since they came out a couple of years ago. It just needed to hang on the wall above my piano. The company that sells them was set up at Sam's Club in Logan for Christmas but couldn't justify spending that much money on myself.
Matt worked overtime on my birthday this year so on the day after Christmas I went back to Sam's to find them rolling their display out the door. I chased them down, ordered my personalized picture of the Manti temple and it just came this week.
I love it!

The superbowl is football right?

Today was the superbowl. I've never actually watched the game before and didn't plan on starting the tradition, that is until our friends invited us to their party and told us about what they do for superbowl. So I thought it was a good time to try out football.

We all picked our teams and then homemade game t-shirts. The shirt had to have your name, your teams logo, and your sponsers. The kids had so much fun drawing on their shirts.

I picked our team by location. The Cardinals- because they're from Arizona and they have a lot of sunshine, something I love. So that was my sponser. Matt's sponsers were his horses and he cheered for the "cowmercils". (He's not big on football either.)

Greg and Candice were with us and Ned and Suz took the Steelers, along with my little traitor, Cody.

It was a great night. We jumped and screamed and ate a lot of yummy food. I'm not sure I could handle being a football fan though, it can be straining for ones heart.
