Jaycee's never been one for sports. It's not that she wouldn't be good, its just that she's really never had a desire to try any. This year however, her P.E. coach talked her into trying out for golf. She found that she was actually pretty good at it and had a few friends to help her in learning. With the early snow melt this year, they were able to practice outside longer and play in more tournaments. Jaycee ended up playing in all but one tournament on the varsity team and has decided that golf may just be her thing.

My First 10k Run
So, I'm still not quite sure how I ended up standing on a start line at Mouqi Cave on Saturday morning at 7:00, freezing to death. But nonetheless, there I was.
It all started the week before when Tia texted me and asked if I wanted to run with Michelle. I had to think for awhile as it pretty much scared me to death - running a great distance in public.
But Michelle was going to have to run alone if I didn't go with her and I was already there for Tia's wedding. So in my friend Amy's words, I put on my big girl panties, my running shoes, and registered.
It actually ended up being kind of fun. We made our six miles to the finish line in 1 hour & 26 minutes. Our family was there cheering us on and Cody and Chris ran the last couple hundred yards with us.
I don't think that I'm going to become a professional runner from this, but I think, if given the chance, and another good partner, I may try it again sometime. Thanks Shel for inspiring my first first 10k run.

Tia's Wedding
My sister, Tia, married Voi Barton in Orderville, Utah this past weekend. It was a small ceremony shared mostly with family and close friends.
Wyatt got to fly out from Kansas the day before so the boys- Chris, Wyatt, and Cody spent several quality hours together doing boy things-climbing things, playing video games, and fighting.
It's too bad that we live so far apart that we can't get together like this more often. It was great to be there for Tia and to share in their day.

It isn't very often that we get together as siblings (minus Bret who couldn't make it,) so when we weren't herding kids, it was great to just sit and chat.

After the wedding, we spent some much needed relaxing time at the hotel pool.

Brit Takes Spirit Week Seriously
Britnee told me last weekend that she had a plan for Spirit Week this year. She drew up everything she needed so that she wouldn't forget and left it propped up in the bathroom.
I think it's great that Brit gets out and struts her stuff a little. I wish I could've been so bold when I was her age.
Monday was twisted Day.
Tuesday was 80's day. She even pulled out the crimper and ratted her hair.
Wednesday was her band trip so she couldn't wear her PJ's but she made up for it on Thursday for school spirit day. Yes, she colored her hair blue.I think it's great that Brit gets out and struts her stuff a little. I wish I could've been so bold when I was her age.
