Cody the Egg Cooker

 Cody hasn't had much of an appetite these last few months and is pretty habitual in what he does eat. (Something to do with his age, I think.) But one thing Cody loves is a fried egg sandwich.

 He gets out the frying pan, cracks an egg, and scrambles the yolk. Then as soon as its cooked on one side, he flips it over and adds a slice of "plastic cheese" (Kraft singles American Cheese.)

Meanwhile, he gets his toast ready and nukes a sausage patty. Put it all together and Cody is set.
I'm so proud of him for growing up and learning to take care of himself.

Treadmill Sushi

 This year for Christmas I got a treadmill. I'm pretty excited about it since it has the feature of being able to draw maps and display them so that I can run all over the world. It's awesome feeling like I'm running down a road in Hawaii while it's snowing and dark outside.

 On Presidents Day though, while I was doing dishes and the kids were out of school, I could hear the treadmill going and the girls talking. I went in to find them playing "treadmill sushi."
Apparently Britnee watched an episode of Drake and Josh on TV that had something to do with the two boys, sushi, and a conveyer belt. So Brit got out her silly putty, set the treadmill on the lowest setting, and talked Jaycee into helping her make ans send sushi down the track.

I have to admit, it was pretty ingenious, and they actually played for quite a while. Just don't tell any of Jaycee's friends at school, she's way too old to play.

Teen Tech Week

My first big project at work came in the form of Teen Tech Week. It's a program sponsored by the Idaho Library Commission to encourage teenagers to read more. My boss, Mary, and I spent 2 days in Blackfoot at conferences learning how to use the software to create and make READ posters. 

To practice and to make our flyers, I recruited two of the cutest girls I could find to pose with their favorite books. And since I have to report on how everything turned out to the commission next month, I was asked to make one of myself. Oh, the pain of having to pick just one book. (I chose this one because of the cool background I wanted to try out.)  

Each teen that comes to the library and has their picture taken this week, March 5-10, gets their very own 11x17 READ poster. We've also made a few bookmarks, t-shirt transfers, window clings, necklaces, and tattoos for the kids.

Really, should a person be allowed to have this much fun at work??

My New Home Away From Home

One of my favorite things about Bear Lake is the awesome county library that we have. I've spent countless hours reading hundreds of books from here and love all of the programs that they offer the community. 

So this fall, as the kids went back to school, I decided that I wanted to get a job as a librarian. Just about Christmas time, the library director told me that they had an opening and in January I was interviewed and hired as the Program Outreach Coordinator. 

Basically what that means is that I'm now in charge of all the activities that I have loved here. Some of my job includes Scrapbook Day, the summer reading program for kids, an adult reading program, game nights for teens, and so on.  

I work with some wonderful people who have welcomed me and taught me all the ins and outs of the library.  I'm having so much fun that I love going to work and I still can't believe I'm getting a paycheck for all this.
