Fun in the Sun by Britnee

 This summer me and Jaycee went to aunt Kelly's  house for 2 weeks. like we do every summer. Its always so much fun. This summer Kelly moved to Murtaugh, Idaho.           

One day we called Chris and he said that we could play in the pool that he got for his birthday. And we did. Pay Pay did not like to sit down but she liked the slide and the water guns, but not spraying her. It was a lot of fun.

One of the days we ate lunch above the water fall. we ate pizza it was good (it was from Costco) oh and pop. While Kelly was in Costco Ben smelled something that was gross and when we went home we cleaned it out. Oh btw it was a dead rat stuck on the radiator. It was so cool.

Every night we would go on a walk. One night we were tired from the walk so we sat down and cooled off.

Oh we were in the pool all most every day. it was so fun.

We went to some place and played, it was so so so fun. oh and behind the slide there is an obstacle course. There was also a ball pit and a bat and a ball that floated in the air. There was a ball pit. There was a fighting place that you had to stand on a block and hit the other person till they fell off. I did it with Kelly and jammed my wrist but other than that is was really fun. THE END

The Park County Fair

We just got back from or annual visit in Wyoming. While we were there we got to do lots of fun things. The first day of our visit with Dondee, we went to Powell to have dinner with Bret and Kelly's families at the Park County Fair.

We were able to catch a show put on by a couple lumber jacks. The boys thought that was about the coolest thing they'd ever seen. We all cheered for Xander and even got to get pictures and autograph's with him.


Because we were only there for one evening, we let each kid ride one ride. Cody chose the Kamikaze with Jacob. They got the front seat and the look on Cody's face was priceless.

It was so fun to see Bret and Kelly and hang out. The Park County Fair is probably my favorite fair so it was great way to start off our vacation.

Grannie Annie's Pool Party

This weekend mom, Cody and I went to get Jaycee and Britnee who have been staying with Ben and Kelly for the past couple of weeks. On Thursday we drove to Murtaugh just in time for Grannie Annie's pool party. Ann, who is Ben's mom, and Kelly spent the morning blowing up some pools and warming the water.

They even filled up several water balloons so the kids could have a water fight.

Ben's sister in law brought her kids over and everybody played in the water. Ben's dad made some yummy ice cream for treats, and we either sat in the shade and visited or ran from water balloons.



It was a really fun afternoon, relaxing and playing in the water.

Done With Dusting

Okay, as a disclaimer, we've been spending a lot of time outside and my house didn't look this dusty. But the other day I was walking into the kitchen to start some breakfast when I saw that my son had drawn in the dust of a table.

I think, if not dusting brings this kind of joy to me, I'm just gonna quit dusting. What a cute little treat for a mom to read that my rough and tumble son would show his love to me this way! Yep, I'm done with dusting.

What Every Little Boy Needs

I'm not a big fan of cow dogs. And even more, I don't love having a dog in the yard to dig up my flowers. So when Matt wanted a new cow dog, I wasn't thrilled. I reluctantly agreed though when I seemed to be the only one not excited. So this puppy now lives at our house. His name is Zip.

Cody has really bonded with Zip and I think it's been good for both of them.
The other day I was out working in the yard when I saw them out playing hide and seek in the field.

Cody would go and hide in the tall grass and wait for Zip to run around until he found him.

I'm fairly certain that the only person with enough energy to keep up with a puppy would be Cody. They have had a lot of fun together and Cody has learned so much about taking care of a pet.
I guess I'll let Zip stay here for that, as long as he stays OUT of any and all flower beds.

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!

Matt was mowing the lawn yesterday while Cody was riding around on his 4-wheeler. Matt got finished and decided to challenge Cody to a race. My camera wasn't fast enough to catch Matt's "wheelie" on take off but his moment of fame was short lived.

By the time I could snap another picture, Cody was leaving him in the dust.

He was pretty proud of himself for beating his dad.

I just love moments that jump out and become memories.

Who Shot Juanito Bandito?

It's summer time, and that means another episode of a hilarious Pickleville Melodrama. This years title is Who Shot Juanito Bandito?
The night began with us all going out to dinner. (Us all meaning Matt, Cody, Candice, Travis, her 2 boys and I. Jaycee and Britnee weren't able to go as they are visiting Aunt Kelly in Twin Falls.)
After that, we all got snow cones and headed in to find our seats.

Candice outdid herself with getting us third row seats. And because of that, during the sing-a-long portion at the first, the guy kept telling everyone that "some people" on the third row needed to try harder. Matt said he didn't care what they did, he wasn't singing.

The show was wonderful as usual. The one liners and music were outstanding. We had a great night. I will have to plan on round 2 because Jayc and Brit are gonna yell when they realize we went without them.

A Day Spent on Memory Lane

One of my favorite people in the world to spend time with is my great uncle Arnold. He and I seem to have endless things to talk about, despite (or maybe because of) our age difference. One our favorite things to talk about are our ancestors. Arnold got some wonderful new stories recently and has been asking when I could come up and visit with him about them.

(Sorry the top picture is a couple of years old, I didn't stop to take a new one.)
Anyway, after our Lagoon trip I stayed a couple extra days and visited with Arnold. He and I sat in his office and he told me stories. Stories about his life, about my grandma Iris' life, and about the lives of grandparents I've never met.

We went over old photographs like this one of Arnold and my grandma growing up. We talked about things we knew, and had fun speculating about things we didn't know.


Arnold also shared with me the life story of my great great grandma Martha Jane, written in her own hand writing.

Although it may sound very boring to some, days like this one are days that I look forward to and hate to see end. I want to cram as many in as I can, knowing that neither of us will live forever. I'm working now on writing the stories he told me, and others, that I can pass them on. And hope that Arnold and I will have many more trips down Memory Lane.
