If you haven't yet seen the Liken the Scripture series yet you're really missing out. It's a set of live action musicals telling scripture stories and staring some pretty cool LDS actors. So when I saw in the ward bulletin last week that one of my favorite actors from the movies was coming to the Paris Tabernacle on Saturday night, we were quite anxious to go. And we were definitely not disappointed. Daniel Beck has a voice that I could listen to for years and not get tired of hearing. He just released an album produced by Kenneth Cope and he sang for us not only several songs from the album but well known favorites like "Bring Him Home", "The Impossible Dream", and "You Raise Me Up."
Of course we took our DVDs of the Liken movies that starred him so that we could get autographs. He came up before the show, saw them sitting on Brit's lap and talked to her as he signed them. Then he sang a song for us, his Liken fans, and afterward we got pictures taken with him.
Ironically, his former mission president is the gospel doctrine teacher in our ward so on Sunday morning in came Dan Beck and his family to sacrament meeting where Jaycee and Britnee sang the special musical number.
The whole experience was delightful and one that if given the chance, I will take again.
P.S. his website is danielbeckmusic.com if you want to hear his music.
